A Note of Thanks- 2012
This year’s festival theme of “Pulling Together” couldn’t be more perfect! The people of the Socastee community have a strong, long-standing heritage of “pulling together” to accomplish important goals. Long ago, as the picture on the cover of this brochure depicts, community members “pulled together” to remove tree stumps so that fields could be cleared for planting. Since then, other community members have “pulled together” to support the installation of our landmark Swing Bridge, to build churches and businesses, to raise families, and to reach out and help others along the way.
In the last two years, members of the Socastee Heritage Foundation have reached out to help the special needs students of our community by raising the funds and providing the labor to install playgrounds containing equipment designed specifically for them. The playground at Socastee Elementary School will be finished this summer and then installation of the playground at Palmetto Bays Elementary School will begin. Proceeds from the annual Heritage Foundation Festival scheduled for Saturday, April 28th will provide a major portion of the funds needed for Palmetto Bays. It is with a grateful heart that I, as principal of Palmetto Bays, thank the residents of the Socastee community, the many sponsors of this year’s Festival and the members of the Heritage Foundation for their efforts on our behalf. Please know how much your time, ideas, efforts and generosity are appreciated. Also, please know how very much we look forward to the day when the Playground is ready and we can introduce our students to that great gift from you….a gift they can enjoy for many years to come.
